Kickin It and Speed Scrap

Digi-Designs by Nicole has this cute cowboy/cowgirl kit in the store. Lots of fun elements and good for boys or girls or adults. I did two layouts with this kit. Neither one were cowboyish, so you can see the versatility of this kit. This is my oldest son who just turned 16 a couple of weeks ago. Isn't he handsome?

Great Outdoors

Narcicca - I had to ask her about roasting bacon, I had never heard of it before. This is what she said "This is a Hungarian habit. We pin bacon, onion and marinate meat onto a stick and we roast it above fire. Marinate: we put salt, pepper and paprika into some oil, we put this onto the meat and put it into the fridge for a night. It is very delicious, try it once!"

Mine - We have a family tradition of making gingerbread houses the first Monday in December and the kids give them to their teachers every year while they are in elementary school. My youngest had team teachers this year so he got to make two. My older kids still like to decorate houses and either eat them themselves or give them away to a friend or neighbor. It is fun!

Lessons Day 9 and 10

Day 9 - adding a burned edge to a photo so that your focus is drawn to the center of the photo. The one on the left is the before photo and the one on the right is the after photo. I think I used too large of a brush because Tyrel looks like he is glowing, but you get the idea.

Lesson 10 - this is my last one for tonight. It was creating clipping masks, that was fun, adding the textures and overlays like in some of the previous lessons, adding text and burning the edge. So clipping masks was the new thing (that made it so it had the rounded edges) and then the rest was a review of our other stuff. I'm not totally sold on the photo I picked, but I'm too tired to go back and find a better one. Here is the before photo.

Here is the after photo. I think I should have picked something with more browns in it to start with instead of the blues and greens.

Lesson day 8

So, lots of you have been asking about the photo editing class I've been taking. It is from Jessica Sprague and today is the last day. You had to be signed up for it the week before it started in order to take it and I don't know that they are taking any late registrations, but here is the link to her site in case any of you want to sign up to take any of her classes.

It has been really fun! I am a week behind still, but here is my photo from lesson 8. It was adding a texture overlay and also adding text to your photo. Here is my photo. I actually put the photo on a layout, but the kit I did it with is not out yet, so you will have to wait another week or so until it is released to see it.

Lesson 6

OK, I'm finally caught up, so I can quit boring you for the day. This technique uses blending modes to make it look like an old photograph through an old camera viewfinder. It was another fun one. We were assigned to do the technique and then go back and add one of the other techniques we used in previous lessons, so I added a texture layer also.

lesson 5

OK, another WAYYY FUNNN lesson! This was adding texture to photographs. I have added texture to papers and elements when I design kits, but I haven't done it to a photograph. This is actually three different textures. In the lesson, she used a B&W photo, but I used a color one that I desaturated slightly and then used. I love how it looks. Here is my original photo and below is the photo after the lesson.

Lesson 4

This lesson was on using a photo mask. I have used photo masks before, so that wasn't new, but she did teach a new way to clip that I didn't know before. It is the same amount of steps as the way I did it before, so I will probably stick with my old way since it is such a habit, but it was good to learn a new way too! I love the look of this mask. This photo is of some lavender at a lavender farm that is pretty close to my house. It wasn't in full bloom yet, but it was still really pretty.

Lesson 3

OOHHH! I really liked this lesson. We created a vintage recolored photograph with this lesson. Here is my original photograph

And here is my vintage photograph with the cheeks recolorized. This one was wayyy fun! I love the look of this photo.

Lesson 2

K, you might all get sick of me today, but I am playing catch up on my Jessica Sprague classes and posting everything here. Less on 2 was on using brushes and the color picker. I use the color picker all the time, but I haven't used brushes where they work like a stamp before, so this was a first for me. It was fun. This is my middle son on a super long slip n slide.
