Polka Dot Bikini

Amber from Stolen Moments and Jessica Edwards teamed up on this cute summer collab. It is pretty much a girl kit, but I was able to do two layouts from it and will probably do more. I know I said I wouldn't see you until Monday, but since I had two from this kit, I thought I'd do one today since they released the kit and my other one next week on Amber's regular day. So, be sure to come back next week. I loved the glass alpha with this kit. So cute! This was using a template from Shazbutt.
When I opened up the stuff for this kit and saw the palm tree, I just had to do this layout. My son and his friend invented an "Electric Ukulele" that they plugged into an amp to amplify the sound for the science fair. I thought it was kind of lame (don't tell my son that) but he was pretty proud of himself. They actually spent 2 or 3 weeks watching some guy from Hawaii on UTube teaching how to play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on the Ukulele. They came home thinking they had really impressed the judges and lo and behold, when we went to the awards ceremony, they took 1st place in the Engineering with Prototype category and are moving on to District next week. I thought the palm tree was so cute and went with their display (which took about 10 times longer to make than the invention itself). My layout is a little different than the QP I did for you.

See you later next week. Hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful!

Fresh QP2

Hi gals and guys! Here is your 2nd Fresh page from DigiDesigns by Nicole and Stolen Moments collab this month. I know you have all been enjoying the multiple photo layouts, but this just has space for one. You can find out how to get Amber's part of the kit here. Remember to grab Nicole's half also so you can scrap all of your Spring layouts. I think this kit would be great for rain layouts or flower garden layouts or Easter layouts. Have fun with it. The template I used is also from Amber's new template pack she did. You will love the polka dot acrylic alpha!
I did this layout of me and my sister and my dad for my sister's birthday a couple of weeks ago. I like how it turned out.I don't know that I'll have anything for you tomorrow unless I find some spare time this evening, but come back for sure on Monday for some fun new kits and QPs made with them. If I don't see you tomorrow, have a wonderful weekend!

Complicated QP and an award

Good morning! I found time this weekend to get you a QP from one of Laurie's Scraps kits. The kit is called Complicated and you can find out how to get it here. Laurie is also making templates now if you haven't been to her site lately, you will want to visit. Her templates are great because you can fit lost of pictures on them.

I love how the QP turned out, but I'm not so crazy about the layout I did with it. I think it is the pictures. They are from New Years Eve when we have a family party at our house and shoot off fireworks at midnight, so the photos were taken outside in the dark and didn't turn out so well but at least I remembered to take pictures this year right? We have been having this party since 2000 and this is the first time I've remembered to take pictures. Maybe next year I'll take some good pictures.

I received a Bloggr Oscar award from Becky. I didn't see any specific rules for this award, so I'll just pass it on to 3 blogs since that is what Becky did (I don't have time to research if there are more specific rules, sorry) You can visit Becky's site here. I'm passing on to 3 fellow creative team members. You can click on their names to see their blogs and how creative they really are. Thanks Becky!

Fresh QP1

Don't you love it when Amber at Stolen Moments and Nicole at Digi-Designs do a collab and you get two QPs that match?! They have done it again. I am not nomally a fan of yellow, but for some reason this kit was beautiful to me. I loved working with it and I picked the yellow shades for both of my layouts. She has way cute little date stamp things again. I love the creative date things they put in their kits! Click on the preview to download.

I've mentioned before that my husband is the hardest one to get to cooperate for family pictures and you can see below, he did it again. The only picture of the two of us that turned out good was the one with his bright yellow Steelers jacket on, so I ended up having to change pics to black and white because I thought that bright color was obnoxious and clashed with my sweater.

This is what the full kit for Nicole's 1/2 looks like so go to her blog and start downloading it! Make sure you leave her some love.

Check back later this week for the QP I made you from Amber's part of the kit.

Charlie, who I am on creative team for, was part of the mega collab to benefit the Australian Bush fires. I am posting the information below so that if you feel so inclined, you can participate in this cause also. It is a gianormous kit! Click on the preview to go to Charlie's blog for the details

Sweet Flora

Nicole at Digi-Designs has done a collab with Vicki at A Work In Progress and it is lovely and Spring-y. You will love it! Don't you love these colors? Here is your QP and you can just click on the preview to download.

Here is my layout. Pics are of my son in the 3rd grade track meet last year running the 50 meter dash. I love his saggy cheeks from the downward motion of running. My husband picked the title and I loved it. My kids are not very fast, but they do have the determination to finish!

Here is Nicole's part of the kit. There is plenty of space on the QP to use her kit to add flowers and stuff to it if you want it girly. Click on the preview to go to her site to get the kit.

And here is Vicki's part of the kit with more fun flower-y stuff! Click on her preview to go to her site to get her part.

I'll be back next week with layouts from Nicole and Ambers collab and hopefully a page from Laurie too. I know I mentioned one this week, but it was month end and I've had to do 23 doc orders inbetween everything else in the last two days. Month end for a loan processor is not fun at all in case you were wondering!

Sweet Love

Well, I'm a little late for Valentine's, but I'm pretty confident that most people don't have their Valentine's photos scrapped yet, plus this works for things other than Valentine's so, I guess it works. This is from Digi-Designs by Nicole and her new Sweet Love kit that she did for Valentine's. It was actually released last week, but since I had two formal pages, I didn't get it in last week.
This layout is of my cute niece who had a sad day at the photo shoot.

Here is Nicole's complete kit.

There is another speed scrap this week, click below for the details.

And here is the addon to the Sweet Love kit that you can get for free if you participate in the speed scrap. So go sign up!

Seeing Stars

I'm finally back with a page from Laurie's Scraps. I love these little doodley stars in this kit don't you? This kit is called "Seeing Stars" and you can find out how to get it here.
Template is from Andrea Gold.
This is a layout I did for my other brother for his birthday. All of my siblings birthdays are within a 3 week period and then I am the lone June birthday in the family. So, this is for my brother that is just younger than me. This is my favorite picture of me with him. I'm sure he is just wanting me to leave him alone!
Not much to say because it is late, but I promised you a QP every day this week, so I had to make sure I got this one in tonight. Be back tomorrow for a QP from Amber's new kit that she released this week.

Paper Prince

Hey all! Hope you had a great weekend! I'm still battling my head cold, but you guys will be rewarded for me being sick because I just sat and scrapped instead of doing things that really needed done this weekend, so as a consequence, you get 5 QPs this week. I bet you are all glad I'm sick. This page is from Charlie's DigiScraps new Paper Prince kit. It has really rich, deep colors in it that you will love. I have been asked for pages with more spots for pictures in it, so this one gives you spots for6 pictures! Thanks to 3s Enough for her great multi-picture templates. Click on the preview to download.
These pictures are from my son's fall soccer season the year before last. But, you can use this QP for all sorts of pictures. Have fun!See you tomorrow with a QP from Nicole's Digi-Designs new formal kit.

Alphabet Soup Remix

Well, Amber at Stolen Moments had this great idea to revisit her very first kit. So, since I have been doing QPs with her kits since the very beginning, I decided to also revisit my QP that I did with that kit. So, here is the old one.

And here is the new one for you! Isn't it cute! I just love this new kit.

Here is my son and his friend in the 3rd grade spelling bee where my son took 2nd place

Here is the preview of Amber's complete kit.

Amber is hosting a challenge at her new store and this is what you can get, so click the image to go to find out the details.

I have a horrible head cold, so I'm off to bed hoping I can shake it soon. See you on Monday.

Rustic Grass

I feel like it has been forever since I posted. How is everyone doing? I have a QP for you today with Nicole's latest kit called "Rustic Grass" Here is a preview of the full kit and if you click on it, you can go find out how to get it from her blog. I really liked the alpha with this kit, but I always like metal alphas and acrylic alphas the best.

Here is your QP with space for a large picture. I used the template from the challenge at Nicole's forum. The template was designed by Nibbles Skribbles. I changed it a little though, the picture was actually supposed to go on that horizontal strip where I used the striped paper, but my photo did not work that way. Click on the preview for the download.

The layout is of my baby brother. Don't you love his chubby hands? He actually turned 37 last week but this is my favorite baby picture of him and when I saw the colors in this kit, it immediately brought this photo to mind.

Nicole is having another speed scrap at her forum today, so click the announcement below to find out the details. IT IS TODAY!!!! so don't delay.

This is the participation prize you get if you finish your layout. It is an add on to her Serenity kit.

Last but not least, Nicole is having a sale this week at her new store where you can get any of her kits for only $1. That is an amazing deal! So, click here to get to the store.

How to do an Overlay

  • Michele, one of my readers, asked how to do the photo overlay on the paper technique used on my funky love layout in the last post. So here are the quick directions. Hopefully you know the basics of Photoshop Elements, so hopefully this makes sense. If not, let me know and I'll try to explain better.
  • Open your paper
  • Open your photo
  • Desaturate your photo so it is black and white (you can leave color or change to sepia also depending on what look you are trying to accomplish but I did B&W for this particular layout)
  • Drag your photo on top of your paper
  • Stretch your photo to fill the area you want to fill (resize)
  • Make sure you have the photo layer selected in your layer palette and go up to the top of your layer palette and where it says "Normal" click on the drop down and choose "Overlay"
  • That should do it!
